Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program

Riverbend Family Ministries has become a Madison County off-site location for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). This program helps many families keep their power on in the hot and cold seasons. For many Illinois households, energy costs place a severe and continuing stressliheap on a family’s budget. In some instances, the household is forced to make painful decisions regarding which bills to pay and which necessities to survive without. LIHEAP is designed to help eligible low income households pay for winter energy service.

“Our phones have been ringing off the hooks, and we are so blessed to be a part of this program,” said Riverbend Family Ministries Executive Director, Tammy Iskarous. “Having so many new people in the community come into our building to fill out applications for LIHEAP has helped us connect families in crisis with the other wonderful programs in the building. We have been able to connect broken people to the resources that can aid in healing.”
